The IT Alchemy Lab really doesn't have any set "purpose" to speak of. It is more about the IT technologies and issues I come across in my day-to-day business, meetings and chats (lunches, coffee and drinks) with my IT colleagues and friends.

Online Persona's

Today, for the first time in a long time, I had some free time to review some of my online sites. After about 90 minutes of "work" I realized that keeping all of this stuff up to date is a real chore.  Additionally, I realized how important it is to keep these things up to date. Just the number of people I accepted on linkedIn was staggering considering a lot of these guys I had brief encounters with.
It occurred to me that the IT world is shrinking faster than ever. The internet  (facebook, yammer, linkedIn) collapses the walls of distance. You can have strong working relationships with colleagues/teams you have never met before, and probably never will, in person.  If you are one of those adventure seeking lots (as I am) and moving your family around the country or the world (HELLO FINLAND) then keeping your social profiles and personas up to date is important.
I never really understood that in it's full scope until this morning : )
